At the event on June 19 last, the kindness and generosity of the guests and donors ensured that the auction and raffle – expertly handled by Padraig Murtagh and Michael Farrelly – contributed to the success of the fundraiser.
A magnificent venue and a beautiful setting made for a special fundraiser to provide support and respite care for families of children with additional needs and autism.
Mid Summer Ball, along with the summer cycle on May 4, realised a total of €40,100.
Frank Dillon, event co-ordinator, welcomed everybody to the ball, expressed how delighted Mullingar Lions Club were to share the evening with their friends and supporters, and offered a huge thank-you for their generosity and kindness.
The work of Mullingar Lions Club is a complete team effort and without the goodwill and support of so many people in the wider Westmeath community, Mullingar Lions Club would not function to its full potential, Frank said.
“You allow us to reach out to many vulnerable people in ways that can ease their struggle and now give them a better quality of life,” the told the guests.
Since the Gala Ball last year, the Lions Club have had the privilege of supporting more than 40 families and have spent some €50,000 on special projects that have made a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people and parents facing significant challenges, including autism and other complex needs.
“We mark not only what has been achieved over the year, but what we can continue to accomplish together,” said Frank. “Thank you for helping make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most. Mile Buíochas.”
