Bord Gáis Energy increasing prices for gas and electricity

Ireland’s largest gas supplier, Bord Gáis Energy are increasing their prices for gas and electricity from Ocotber 9 this year.

The average electricity bill with the company will increase by 8.8%, raising by €14.75 on a monthly bill. Bord Gáis say that electricity unit rates are increasing by 9.1% and electricity standing charges are increasing by 7.2%.

This will mean an estimated yearly bill for electricity will now be €177 more expensive.

When it comes to gas, unit rates will increase by 10.6%, while gas standing charges will rise by 7%. An average gas bill will increase by 9.3%, rising by an estimated €11.67 monthly.

This will mean an estimated yearly bill for electricity will be €140 more expensive.

On their website, Bord Gáis Energy said: “While we've worked hard to absorb costs in the past, including absorbing network charges in 2024 and passing on two price reductions over the last four years, sustained increases in the cost of supplying energy mean we now need to adjust prices to reflect current market conditions.”
