Call out for TY Coffee Morning blitz

Transition Year students across Westmeath are being called on to put their barista, baking and planning skills to the test in a huge fundraising drive in support of Hospice care.

Celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio has officially kicked off the TY Coffee Morning blitz, taking place nationwide over the next two months and part of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice.

TY classes have the chance to hold one right up until November 12 – and once they send in their donations, can enter a draw to win €1,000 cash, plus two free places on Catherine’s 13-week online cookery course.

“I have seen first-hand, the incredible work that hospices do to serve our communities and to look after patients with life-limiting conditions, and their families,” she said at her Ballyknocken Cookery School in Co Wicklow.

“So we’re urging Transition Year classes in Westmeath to get involved, host a coffee morning and raise crucial funds to support the often unseen work hospices and homecare services carry out every day.

“It’s an opportunity to get creative; have a cupcake decorating competition, bake sale, raffle or community coffee morning.

“You can even host a bake-off or experiment with iced-coffee, using your Transition Year skills to give back to your local community.”

Schools have until November 12 to hold their coffee morning and return donations to be in with a chance of winning the prizes. Register your class at hospicecoffeemorning.ie and receive posters to display in your school, collection boxes and a welcome pack with fundraising tips and print outs.
