Davitt wants improved bus service at The Downs

A claim that only some buses are opting to stop to pick up passengers at The Downs was made by Cllr Aoife Davitt at the September meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District.

“Can we write to Bus Éireann and ask them about it?” she asked, to which the response from director of services Deirdre Reilly was that this could be done.

Cllr Davitt formally asked that the district install bus stops at The Downs, to which the official written response was that two bus stops will be installed at the Downs on the R156 close to the roundabout in

Q3/Q4 2026.

A second request by Cllr Davitt was that the hedge at the walking path on the N52 from the Marlinstown Roundabout to the new IDA Park be cut, and she was informed that this work has been done.

Cllr Davitt also asked that the district cut the ivy on the exterior walls of the ESB car park: “The District Office has advised that they will inspect this boundary wall of the car park and carry out necessary ivy removal,” she was informed.
