U16 Girls Blue Team make strong start to Midlands League

The Mullingar U16 Girls Blue team hosted Edenderry in Shay Murtagh Park on Friday evening, and, in the first game of the season and their first games of U16 rugby, started strongly and scored a try from early pressure.

They showed great teamwork, supporting each other in the breakdown and in open play and applying constant pressure on Edenderry.

That pressure resulted in a couple more tries before the beak.

Mullingar continued to apply pressure after the break keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Edenderry refused to give in thanks to some strong phases in defence and a couple of turnovers.

The Edenderry attack were frustrated by the Mullingar defence, who displayed some strong tackles and turnovers of their own.

To Edenderry’s credit they kept pushing to the end and got a try of their own just before the final whistle.

Well done to both teams as they got their seasons started with plenty to work on as the season progresses.
