Mullingar Art Room back to open local Culture Night

Mark Longworth with his daughter Aria, who is the subject for the ‘Girl in the Meadow’ painting as displayed.Last weekend, the Greville Arms Hotel provided the backdrop for the Mullingar Art Room annual Culture Night exhibition, which welcomed a record-breaking number of attendees. The three-day event opened on the Friday evening, September 18, and maintained a lively, inspiring atmosphere until its close on the Sunday.
The exhibition was officially opened by Noel O’Farrell, whose words of encouragement were appreciated by all the artists, and the tone for the weekend.
This year’s exhibition offered an abundance of creativity in works spanning oils, acrylics, watercolours, charcoal, fine liner, and pencil. Each piece reflected the individuality of its creator, and together, the items in the collection presented a stunning spectrum of colour, style, technique, and imagination.
The visitors soaked up the atmosphere and many managed to secure new artworks, while the artists enjoyed meeting the public and seeing their work so warmly received.
Over the years, Mullingar Art Room has established Culture Night as a signature event for the local arts community, drawing in regular supporters and new admirers alike.
Next year promises another impressive collection, so local art lovers are already encouraged to save the date.
The turnout also brought a wave of interest from prospective new members. While Mullingar Art Room is currently full to capacity and unable to take on new members, and given the high demand from people wishing to join, we recommend they start a new club; after all, we began just like that back in 2012 by renting a room with only four members.
