Search at Lough Ennell stood down following discovery of body
It has been confirmed by An Gardaí Síochána that the body of a man aged in his 20s has been found in Lough Ennell.
In a statement, Gardaí said, "Following discovery of a body of a male (aged in his 20s), Gardaí have stood down the search at Lough Ennell, Co Westmeath, today, Tuesday, 29th September, 2026.
"The deceased was conveyed to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in Tullamore Hospital, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.
"The local coroner has been notified and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.
No further information is available at this time.
