1,600 homes planned, under construction or nearing completion in Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad

More than 1,600 new homes are currently under construction, planned or nearing completion across Mullingar and towns in the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District.

Westmeath County Council’s charge officer Eugene Duffy, providing councillors with an update on housing developments across the district, said 23 developments containing a combined total of more than 1,600 units are listed.

Among the largest developments is Pettitswood Hills in Mullingar, where 245 units are being built.

Greville Park on the C-Link Road has 181 units, is described as fairly well developed, and people are living in the homes.

Other major developments include Chapel Parks in Kinnegad, with 127 units; Ballinderry Gardens beside Newtown Lawns in Mullingar, with 117 units; The Willows in Kinnegad, which will consist of 115 units; The Meadows on the Ardmore Road, with 104 units; and Harbour Meadows, behind the Primary Care Centre in Mullingar, with 95 units.

Radharc an Mhuilinn in Rathwire consists of 90 houses, while Saunders View Avenue on the Ardmore Road has 33 existing units, and there is planning permission for a further 93 units behind it.

There are also 55 units planned as an extension to Kingscourt in Castlepollard, while Ivy Court in Killucan is being extended by 30 units.

Saunders Mews, Rise and Green on the Ardmore Road comprise a 30-unit block of apartments and a further 41 units.

Ardmore Hills has 65 units, while Gort na dTobar in Irishtown has 28 units.

Other developments listed include Royal Canal Park, with 18 units; Castlelost Way in Rochfortbridge, with 15; Oakmount on the Dublin Road in Mullingar, with 11; Rathgarve Green in Castlepollard, with 11; Town Parks in Castlepollard, with six; Bellview Grove on the Dublin Road, with nine; Rahanine Drive in Rochfortbridge, with nine; Raistin Court in Clonmellon, with 28; and Castle Gardens in Tyrrellspass with 10.

Mr Duffy said The Willows in Kinnegad had not yet broken ground but was about to start.

The figures were presented as part of an update on developments and estates being progressed towards being formally taken in charge by Westmeath County Council.

Mr Duffy said there was “quite a lot going on” in the district in terms of development. He also outlined a number of older estates where work is continuing to bring them into council responsibility.
