Change on Oliver Plunkett Street as O’Sullivan Menswear closes

Generations of men and boys from the greater Mullingar area have chosen O’Sullivan Menswear on Oliver Plunkett Street for special occasion outfits, First Holy Communions, Confirmations, weddings, school uniforms, or just when they wanted to be sure of their sartorial style. That is all about to end as O’Sullivan Menswear is closing in the coming weeks due to retirement.

Grace O’Sullivan, who runs the business along with Rosanna O’Sullivan, Paul Curley and retired John O’Reilly, who have worked in the business for a long number of years, explained how her grandfather, Michael O’Sullivan, came from Limerick to Mullingar and opened a general drapery store across the street in 1927.

Grace’s father, Lenzie O’Sullivan, subsequently opened the present O’Sullivan Menswear in the 1960s and, after his death in 1983, her mother, Teresa took over.

O’Sullivan Menswear has a half price sale on all goods which include top of the range suits, jumpers, shirts, trousers, cardigans workwear and underwear.

“We would like to thank all our customers for trusting us to dress them over the years,” said the family.
