Westmeath fire stations host open days in coming weeks

Westmeath Fire Service invite the public to visit local fire stations on their open days to help remind the public of the message issued in Fire Safety Week 2026.

The theme is ‘Know Your Room, Know the Risk’ – A Safer Westmeath for Tomorrow’.

The open days will give people an opportunity to meet fire crews, learn about fire safety and find out how to keep their families safe.

On Saturday October 24, Kilbeggan Fire Station will open from 10am to 2pm, and Athlone Fire Station from 12pm to 4pm.

On Saturday November 21, Castlepollard Fire Station will open from 10am to 2pm and Mullingar Fire Station from 12pm to 4pm.

Visitors can expect fire safety advice, live demonstrations, home safety information, opportunities to meet firefighters, family activities and information on emergency preparedness.

The events are free to attend and family-friendly, and include fire safety demonstrations.
