Lecture on Oliver Plunkett: Archbishop, Martyr Saint

Westmeath Archaeological and Historical Society

Bishop Paul Connell will give a talk on Saint Oliver Plunkett on Wednesday next 21 October at 8pm in the Greville Arms Hotel.

Oliver Plunkett was the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland when he was executed at Tyburn in 1681.

He was canonised in 1975, becoming the first Irish saint in 700 years. There is a mosaic of Saint Oliver Plunkett in Westminster Cathedral created by the Russian artist Boris Anrep, who also designed the Cathedral mosaics in Mullingar.

Bishop Connell will explore the life and times of this extraordinary Irish patriot.

All are welcome.
