Pink Ribbon coffee morning for Irish Cancer Society at Mullingar Rugby Club
A special Pink Ribbon Coffee Morning takes place at Mullingar Rugby Club on Friday, October 23, in support of the Irish Cancer Society and its work with people affected by breast cancer.
The event, running from 10am to 1pm, is being organised as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is observed internationally each October to promote awareness, encourage early detection and screening, and show support for patients and their families.
The morning will offer an opportunity for the local community to come together in support of a worthy cause, while remembering loved ones and standing in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.
Visitors can enjoy tea and coffee alongside homemade baked goods and jams for sale. There will also be a raffle featuring hampers and vouchers, and Rose of Tralee Caoilfhinn Ní Choiligh is a special guest.
Organisers are hoping for another strong turnout. Marie O’Toole, chairperson of the Mullingar Pink Ribbon committee, said the public support shown is heartening: “Last year’s coffee morning was a great success and raised over €7,000 and we are hoping for a great turn out again this year.
“Whether you can stay for a while, bring a friend, donate a little, or simply spread the word, every form of support is greatly appreciated.”
The Irish Cancer Society provides a range of services for people diagnosed with breast cancer, including transport to treatment and appointments, counselling, advocacy and funding for research into new treatments.
Anyone seeking support can contact the society’s free support line on 1800 200 700.
The organisers are inviting people from Mullingar and the wider Westmeath community to attend the coffee morning and help build on last year’s fundraising success.
The event is open to all, and proceeds go support the Irish Cancer Society’s work.
