Happy 100th birthday, Teresa
Teresa Moran (née Teresa Fox), a native of Killeenbrack, Streamstown, celebrated her 100th birthday on October 2. Teresa’s father Michael Fox also lived for a century. Michael spent several years in Argentina before returning to Ireland to take over the farm in Killeenbrack.
Teresa is the last surviving member of six siblings, two of whom lived into their 90s – Sr Catherine, who was a member of the Sisters of Charity, and Fr Christy Fox, who was a well known Mill Hill Missioner.
Teresa’s brother Tom took over the farm in Killeenbrack while her brother Michael emigrated to New York, and sister Mary Jane married Michael Carton and lived in Horseleap.
Teresa trained as a confectioner in Dublin. She married Benny Moran and settled in Athlumney, Navan, and raised a family of six.
She wasn’t always confined to the domestic sphere and she travelled extensively to America (North and South), Europe, Africa and Asia, and went on many cruises.
In latter years she was a keen bridge player.
Teresa’s sons and daughter are settled in the Navan area. She also has several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, living in the area of Mullingar and environs, and also in New York and Tokyo.
