Fáilte Ireland launch ‘Greenways Culinary Tourism Development Programme’

A group of food and drink producers, tourism businesses and industry stakeholders gathered at The Village Barn, Tyrrellspass, today for the launch of the Fáilte Ireland Greenways Culinary Tourism Development Programme.

The event explored how local food and drink offerings can enhance the visitor experience along the network of greenways, creating more reasons for visitors to stay longer and support businesses.

Attendees heard from industry speakers and tourism business operators who shared practical insights on developing food and drink experiences for the tourism market, enhancing the greenway visitor experience, building collaboration across the sector, and bringing the region’s food and drink story to life for visitors.

Greenways are an important part of Ireland’s tourism offering and have brought transformative benefits to communities and to visitors.

The Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands Regional Tourism Development Strategy envisages a ‘lattice-work’ of interconnected trails, greenways and blueways across Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, creating a well-connected network that links communities, disperses visitors, and supports vibrant destination hubs throughout the region.

The Fáilte Ireland programme looks to optimise opportunities and build the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to maximise the revenue opportunity of the growing greenway market.
