Coláiste Mhuire open evening
Coláiste Mhuire Secondary School, Mullingar, welcomed 300 families to its open evening on Thursday 1 October, as families consider their school choices for September 2027.
Student guides shared their experiences, led tours and gave visitors an insight into the learning, friendships and opportunities that shape life at the school.
Academic achievement remains central to life at Coláiste Mhuire, and students consistently achieve excellent Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate results, sustained success that reflects students’ hard work, the dedication of their teachers, and the school’s commitment to supporting each student to reach their potential.
The school celebrates achievement across the full range of abilities, recognising individual progress alongside outstanding examination results.
Complementing this academic focus is an extensive extracurricular programme, and high levels of participation across clubs and teams. Students can take part in STEM and Young Scientist projects, VEX Robotics, Lego, chess, debating, the school newspaper and Dungeons and Dragons. Music, choir, school musical productions and Gaisce provide further opportunities to develop talents, build friendships and contribute to school life.
Sport is another thriving part of school life, and Gaelic football, hurling, soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, athletics, cross country, golf, pitch and putt, tennis and darts offer a broad choice of activities.
Strong participation is supported by multiple panels in Gaelic football and hurling, including green and white panels. The structure creates opportunities for more students to play competitive school sport, represent Coláiste Mhuire and wear the school crest with pride.
Principal Keith Quinn highlighted the school’s sustained academic success: “We are immensely proud of the excellent Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate results our students achieve year after year. We have high expectations for every student and support them in working towards their own goals. We celebrate the effort and progress behind those achievements, and the dedication of our teachers in helping students reach their potential.
“Our multiple sports panels are an important part of that approach. Representing your school and wearing the Coláiste Mhuire crest is something special. We want more students to experience that sense of belonging, teamwork and pride, while developing their skills and enjoying their sport,” he added.
