Jessica joins the navy... Down Under

Jessica McGee from Kilbeggan has graduated as a member of the Australian Navy.

Jessica, who was born in 1998, attended Kilbeggan primary school. In August 2011 she, her mother Aisling, her father Mark and her younger sister and brother, Kadi Teirnan and Brohán, (then aged four and three) moved to Brisbane, Australia.

In August 2016, the family returned to Ireland with heavy hearts as Jessica decided to stay on in Australia to further her career.

She had a few career choices before she finally decided to join the Australian Navy.

She has spent the last 11 weeks training, doing fitness drills, duties, experiencing life on ships and training to become an Australia Navy marine. She graduated on Friday May 25 last.

Jessica’s grandparents are Sean and Teresa McGee, Kilbeggan and Kathleen and Gerry Grennan from Lisminey Kilbeggan.
