Arán & Im: what's on at Mullingar Arts Centre

Arán & Im is a theatrical performance in which Manchán Magan bakes sourdough bread while offering insights into the wonders of the Irish language – exploring potent words of landscape, terms of intuition and insight, and the many phrases that bring to life the mysterious glory of our natural world.
The show is a celebration of language, land and local Irish food.
Arán agus Im is a bilingual show, entirely understandable to Béarlóirí. It is at Mullingar Arts Centre on Friday November 26 at 1pm and at 7.30pm (the running time is 70mins, and the age recommendation is 12+).
Tommy Fleming
His worldwide success has made Tommy Fleming a household name and his fanbase is growing year on year – it’s not hard to see why, as music is a universal language and Tommy is undoubtedly fluent in it.
Tommy turns each song into his own with a unique and powerful style, and while his music is difficult to classify, fans use such words as “deeply emotional, romantic and sincere” to describe the feelings it evokes. One reviewer described his music as falling into a genre of symphonic pop that still awaits a name.
Tommy is famous for his arrangements of ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Isle of Innisfree’ and ‘Hard Times’ – songs that you know and love but have never heard until you hear Tommy Fleming’s versions.
He has long been associated with classic Irish and internationally renowned folk and Celtic songs along with many more contemporary and Irish numbers, and his concert at Mullingar Arts Centre on November 27 will be a night of many of those songs along with the old favourites.
