Ruairi takes the spoils on Friday

Clear rounds were not plentiful in the 70cm class on Friday last with fence two catching out a lot of riders. First to go Ruairi Fagan, still only seven years of age, set an early target going clear in 43.21 seconds. We had to wait until fourth last to go Sean Keena before we got another clear. Sean had Ruairi on the edge of his seat as he also went clear and stopped the clock on 43.77 seconds just a little slower than Ruairi. With no other riders going clear the two boys were thrilled to finish first and second.First to go was obviously the place to be on Friday night last as Timmy Love went first of 23 competitors in the 80cm class. Timmy, who teams up with Majic, jumped the round of the evening as he negotiated the 13 obstacles clear in 30.27 seconds. Hayleigh Grey, a regular winner of this class, finished second on 31.46 with another in-form competitor, Rebecca Flynn slotting in in third place with Sargeant clear in 31.93. Caroline Dardis and Bobby finished fourth.Ciara Fagan and Eadaoin Conway took the first two placings in the 90cm with Rachael Shaw coming in third with Sally.Rachael completed the evening with a double when she also won the metre class with the only clear in the class. Best of luck to all the riders who are off the Cavan next weekend for the Cavan Autumn Home Pony International.Next week is the final night of the autumn league with a very exciting Christmas league commencing the following week on November 5 with fabulous prizes to look forward to, especially in the 70 and 80 cm classes.Jumping continues next Friday at 5pm.Interschools (Secondary)The interschools competition for secondary schools will take place on Saturday, November 6.
