There was a meeting last Thursday night in Serenity house between the Gardai, and Kinnegad Community Council, Residents associations committees, and the Kinnegad Business Community. The meeting was organised by Kinnegad Community Council with the aim of setting up a neighbourhood watch/community alert in the Kinnegad area. The meeting was attended by the local Garda superintendent, inspector and sergeant who spoke of the need for a joint effort between the community and the Gardai on anti social behavior. The need for a joint effort at Halloween and for an increase in Garda numbers generally and Gardai on the beat specifically were also raised. Serenity House is the ideal place to meet old friends and make new acquaintances.Credit Union National Poster CompetitionYoung local artists up to 18 years of age and over are being invited to submit entries for this year's Credit Union National Poster Competition which has been launched by Kinnegad and District Credit Union, using the theme 'My Credit Union, My Choice'. A baptism cert is available from the church where the child was baptized and it must be returned to the school before Friday the 26th February 2010.The dates for the sacraments in Kinnegad parish in 2010 are: First communion in the Downs is on Saturday the 24th April at 11 am Confirmation in Kinnegad on Friday the 30th April at 11 am; First communion in Coralstown is on Saturday the 8th May at 11 am; First communion in St Etchens is on Saturday the 22nd May at 11 am; First communion in Clonard is on Saturday the 29th May at 11 am.Kinnegad Parish NewsEnvelopes for the List of the Dead are available in all churches and are to be returned before Monday the 2nd November. All those on the Parish list of the dead are remembered in parish masses each First Friday. A warm welcome to Fr Emmanuel Abuh who is doing post graduate study in Maynooth and will be in the parish for the next year on a two day a week plus weekend basis. He will reside at the parochial house. A DVD of the Clonard Tractor run is available from the parish office on 9375197. The rosary will be recited every evening at 7:30 pm in Kinnegad church for the month of October and all are welcome.Parish MagazineThere is to be a 2009 edition of the parish magazine and it is to be ready for Christmas. At this stage the group welcomes articles and year review pieces from individuals and groups. Photographs of events during the year would be welcome.
