TUS Springboard+ open evening

More than 1300 opportunities available

The Faculty of Continuing, Professional, Online and Distance Learning at TUS Midlands Campus is hosting an Online Open Evening on Wednesday June 22 (7-9pm) via Zoom.

The event will focus on the range of free and part-funded programmes available via the Springboard+ and HCI initiatives and is targeted at the adult learner (employed or unemployed), who will be able to gain an understanding of the array of academic programmes available to them in business, engineering, software, quality management, leadership.

Programmes range up to one year duration and from level 6 to level 9 – so for those interested in further learning, there definitely will be something that might encourage them back to acquire new skills.

Declan Doran, Business Development and Work Practice co-ordinator, said: “Lecturers will be available to answer any questions that you may have.”

Aimed at individuals who are currently in employment, returning to education or unemployed, the Springboard+ and HCI funded education programmes supports learners to gain the requisite expertise and abilities to upskill or reskill in areas of regional and national importance.

The Springboard+ programmes provides 100% funding for unemployed applicants while Level 6 Springboard programmes will be free to all successful candidates while level 7-9 receive 90% funding for employed applicants.

Dr Michael Tobin, dean of the Faculty of Continuing, Online and Professional Learning at TUS Midlands, said: “Given the shift towards online learning, our Springboard+ and HCI programmes will be delivered in a flexible online format enabling us to have a national reach.

“We are continuing to move forward with our 100% online model of learning as it has proven to offer our students the flexibility and autonomy to enjoy study at their own pace using our online platform (lectures are recorded), should they not be able to make their online lecture on a particular evening.”

Dr Tobin said that TUS are working with Mullingar E-Working Hub and Edgeworthstown Co-WorX to develop the ‘Learning Gate’ concept further.

Mr Doran concluded: “This is an excellent opportunity to have any questions on learning opportunities commencing in September 2022 answered – but hurry as the funded and part-funded places are filling fast.
