Among the many visitors to Columba College in Killucan for the open night last Wednesday were alpacas and calves, which were only a small part of the attraction for the sixth class pupils and their families who attended.
School principal Dermot Brady said there was a great buzz for the open evening. He said enrolment was high, as the visiting pupils got to see the many attractions the school offers – not just the animals!
“The five core values of an ETB school are excellence in education, respect, equality, community, and care, and they’ll get that in abundance if they choose to come to Columb College,” said Mr Brady.
“There was a huge crowd, and the kids got to see and experience lots of different things, including alpacas (thanks to the ag-science teacher, Tom Sheerin), and calves. There were great displays in all the classrooms, and a great buzz around the school that night.”
Columba College is a medium size school, which means staff get to know all students personally.
