Mullingar's top singers in 'Stars in their Eyes'

It's definitely a night to remember when you get Evanescence, Frank Sinatra, Boyzone, Ben E. King and Lily Allen all up on the same stage. But when you get them all back up onstage - along with a host of other big name performers for three nights in a row, then you've definitely got something special going on.Of course, up close, it was clear that the performers at the three nights of the Mullingar Shamrocks' annual "Stars in their Eyes" show were not who they appeared to be: merely a great bunch of hugely talented locals, imitating their looks, their sound, and their talent - and the audiences loved them. There was a great reaction to the acts, which included solo singers, groups, and musicians, and there was a great crowd at the Arts Centre for the three nights' shows. Many of the performers are already well-known on local stages through their involvement in various music groups, and dramatic and musical societies - and so they were bringing not just their singing, but also their acting talent to bear.Among those who took part were Tony Irwin as Roy Orbinson, Maeve Hughes as Amy Winehouse, Paul Doolin as Frank Sinatra, Niall Noran as Jason Mraz, Niamh O'Shea as Katy Perry, Mark Irwin as Michael Bublé, Aaron Purcell as Kenny Loggins, Daniel Kiernan as Evanescence, and Maeve Dolan as Alexandra Burke. And that was all just the first half! Also on stage were Billy Mac - as himself; Hellen Hassett as Lily Allen, Jordan Onubogu as Ben E. King, Eddie Casey, Kieran McKenna and Eddie Byrne doing "Queen", Katie McCarthy as Taylor Swift, Karl Brogan as Steve Tyler, Pearse Corroon as Johnny Cash; Adaeze "Daisy" Onubogu, Gemma McNamee and Siobhan Murphy were part of the Footloose squad, Graham Dowling, Philip Bell and Darragh Geraghty were in the Boyzone line-up, while Sarah Jame Bennett, Kelly Eivers, and Aoibhinn Byrne were "The Pointer Sisters".
