Clearing snow on Gaol Hill, Mullingar

Jimmy Gilhooley and Eamonn Byrne are doing their best to keep the road on Gaol Hill clear, but it's a tough battle.

The machine belongs to Pat Martin of Ballymore and Jimmy is working for him. Eamonn is a county council employee.

Aidan Gilhooley, parks and open spaces supervisor with Westmeath County Council, said they had 20 GOs (general operatives) out gritting and clearing paths around Mullingar this morning.

The gritting lorries were out all night too, and the snow ploughs this morning, said Aidan.
