Westmeath man Manchán Magan is one of the three ambassadors for Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia, which kicked off on Wednesday last, March 1.

The extra-long ‘seachtain’ which runs until March 17, is the largest Irish language festival in the world. The public are invited to participate in the festival by attending Irish language events and using their Irish in any way they can to celebrate craic, cairdeas agus ceol as Gaeilge.

The two other ambassadors alongside Collinstown writer Manchán are TV presenter Maura Derrane and creator Éadaoin Fitzmaurice.

Some of this year’s biggest events include Lá na Teicneolaíochta where hundreds of school children will celebrate technology and the Irish language on March 9 and Lá na gCiorcal Comhrá on March 15.

Orlaith Nic Gearailt, manager of Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia, said: “There are many opportunities for people to take part in Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia this year. People who want help organising Irish language events can go to snag.ie and those looking to attend events can find them on PEIG.ie/snag23. We encourage the public to explore their own possibilities with the language during Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia this year.”

More information about the festival can be found at snag.ie, and #SnaG23 events can be registered and explored at PEIG.ie.
