The late Sean Farrell

Sean Farrell, of Togher Cross, Castletown-Finea, died on March 31 last, at the untimely age of just 56.Tragically, his death came suddenly, as the result of a fall while visiting a relative in Co. Kildare.A builder by trade, Mr. Farrell had worked extensively in this country, but also in both the UK and the Isle of Man.In his youth, while working abroad, he was regularly flown home by the local hurling club in Castletown Finea, to join the side in important matches. He also played football in his youth, lining out with Castlepollard.Mr. Farrell's passion for Gaelic games, and especially hurling, saw him later get involved in the training side of things, and he brought the local hurlers to championship glory on two occasions. In latter years however, Mr. Farrell turned more to the pleasures of angling, and it was a pasttime he greatly enjoyed, travelling regularly to the west to fish on the River Corrib. The removal of remains took place on Saturday evening last, April 3, from his residence to Castletown Finea church, where the remains were greeted by Fr. Patrick Moore, PP, Castlepollard.Fr. Moore celebrated the funeral Mass on Sunday, following which the remains were interred at the local cemetery.Mr. Farrell is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his sons, Michael, Aaron, Wesley and Shane, all of whom live at Togher Cross; by his daughter, Allie; by his grandchildren, Arlene and Leah; his brothers, Pat (USA), Morris (England); his sisters, Nancy and Maureen, who live in the UK, Madge and Patricia, who live in Oldcastle, Tess, who lives in Togher, and Goretti, who lives in Kildare.
