Wonderful scoring by John Meehan secures Thursday"s open
With the weather still being unkind to golfers, the brave and foolish braved the frost and wind on Sunday, the course is holding up well and we had a game of two halves, with the front 9 being on temporary greens and on to full greens for the back 9.The turn out was fairly good for the time of year were a lot of golfers are getting ready for the festive season. The club has introduced the two putt rule on temporary greens which will be explained before you commence play. Also from next week a two tee start will be in operation which will speed up everyone getting out faster on these shorter days.John Meehan is certainly on form winning Thursdays open and playing off 12 but I might add not for much longer, because he followed up with a massive 43 points to win Sundays single stableford. Stephen Egan snr (7) was hot on his heels in second place also with 43 points, third place went to Noel Baker (20) also with 43 points that is what you can call a tight competition. Brian McCormack headed up the Juniors with 41 points. Well done to all the winners.Just to let everyone know that tickets for the Captain"s Dinner are now on sale in the club house, and in these inflationary times it is good to note that the price of the tickets have not gone up from last year and are still only €45. The music will be provided by Vision 3 and if previous years are anything to go by everyone should have a good time. Happy Golfing!
