Sheila Massey, who works at Centra in Rathwire, was one of the organisers of a fun day the shop hosted on Saturday. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the local Golden Years Club.
“We had a lot of support from local businesses here,” Sheila told the Westmeath Examiner on the day, “from Smyth’s Hardware to Scanlons of Kinnegad, Kerry’s hairdressing, Brenda’s hairdressing, the local chipper – so we would like to thank them, and anyone else that helped out, there’s way too many to mention.
“I also want to thank the manager, Kieran Byrne, everyone who attended – the parents, the kids, everyone – we had a great day, and the weather played ball.
“The money we’ve raised is going to the Golden Years Club.”
