Further delay in SATU opening

The opening date for the new Sexual Assault Unit for Mullingar has been put back to January, according to Laois/Offaly Fine Gael deputy, Olwyn Enright TD.Deputy Enright is angry over the delay, and said this week she had previously received a commitment from the HSE that it would open prior to Christmas.'While, I am disappointed at this delay as we have been waiting a long time for delivery of this unit. I will keep in communication with the HSE to ensure the January deadline is met," Deputy Enright told the Westmeath Examiner this week.'The availability of this service is crucial to everyone in the midlands and women in particular. It will mean that people, following a sexual assault will no longer have to travel to the Rotunda hospital in Dublin for examination.'
