Tyrrellspass Golf Society News
It was great to see plenty of old faces and also some new ones at our first outing of Tyrrellspass Golf Society in Mount Temple Golf Club last Saturday. We were blessed with the day as the sun shone brightly and none of the familiar wet stuff fell to dampen spirits. We would like to thank our sponsor for the day, Mr. Adrian Dunne and many thanks to Mick and his staff in Mount Temple for their hospitality and the condition of the course. We played off the whites and the course was playing long especially with the strong wind that was blowing, but this did not reflect in the scores. The winner on the day was Pat Mooney with a massive 42 points and a close second after a couple of years sabbatical was Ray Flanagan with 41 points. No stranger to the podium was Cat 1 winner Seamus Feery with 37 points. Cat 2 was won by Seamus Doonan with 32 points. Cat 3 winner was suffering from a chest infection and started off the day with a hot drop and it worked wonders for Owen Dargan as he burned up 36 points with his rocket fuel. The front 9 was won by new member Murty Quinn and the back 9 was won by the new handicap secretary, David Gavigan. Not happy with that he added to the silverware with the longest drive as well, and nearest the pin was won by Clive Ledwith. The visitors prize went to young Brendan Kelly with 38 points.Well done to all winners and remember the next outing is in Portarlinton Golf Club on April 25 at 9am.
