Foran makes his mark
Having threatened to hit the highest summit on previous occasions, in-form Mark Foran finally reached the promised land in the Christmas Singles.
In remarkable form from his first delivery in this year's event, Mark was virtually untouchable, overcoming Kevin Nolan in a keenly contested decider.
The Bridge Centre welcomed a good sized gathering for the penultimate games in the competition, staged a week before Christmas.
Before reaching the decider, Mark had to overcome a determined Joe Kincaid. The latter could have caused a surprise before Mark asserted himself.
On the opposite mat, Kevin and Eugene McComb were having a ding dong contest. The latter had dashed Dolores McCormack's hopes in the quarter final but he came unstuck in his clash with Kevin.
That set up the showdown between Kevin and Mark. The early ends were close before Mark began to assert control. Despite Kevin's best efforts Mark was not going to be denied on this occasion.
A very popular winner, Mark was presented with the Seán Harraghy Memorial Cup by club founder member, Philip Morris.
To round off the evening, the members were treated to a lovely pre Christmas supper.
