Mullingar fighters at Irish Open Knockdown Karate Tournament

Mullingar Kyokushinkai Dojo representatives gave a good account of themselves at the Irish Open Knockdown (full-contact) Karate Tournament at Trinity College Sports Arena, Dublin.

Dimitar Stoyanov was second in the L/W Open Category but Conor Fitzpatrick unfortunately lost to a world class German fighter in his contest at Open M/W.

The Irish Tournament was months in planning and attracted top-class competitors from all over the world, and the standard was consequently high. It is hoped the event will be bi-annual in the future.

The Mullingar Dojo train twice weekly at the Parish Community Centre, Tuesdays and Saturdays, and new beginners are always welcome – previous experience is not necessary. The club cater from ages from six to adult, and say that karate teaches self-discipline, self-respect, self-control and self-confidence.
