Mullingar Jets return to training this week

Mullingar Jets Swimming Club will return to training on Friday, September 3 at 4.15pm. The club had a very successful year, and we are hoping to improve it again this year. Our membership has increased since last September. Our numbers have gone from 90 to 140 swimmers. We were represented at a variety of galas last season and all our swimmers did very wellThe club ran an open water event for the first time ever on Sunday June 13. The weather wasn’t great at the beginning of the day but it improved greatly. We had two categories, a race without a wetsuit and a race for those wearing a wetsuit.Beautiful Mullingar Crystal trophies were given out to the 1st male and female in each category. A medal was given to everyone else who participated. The first man in without a wetsuit was Matthew Coward and the first lady without a wetsuit was Dáire Kavanagh. The first man in a wetsuit was Enda Munnelly and the first lady in a wetsuit was Marie-Louise Johnson. The club hope to build on this and have a bigger and better event next year. Two of our much loved coaches, Monica Dolan and Louise Fitzgerald, after many long years of dedicated coaching to our young swimmers, have retired. They will be greatly missed. In the summer we ran a course for more new assistant coaches. We now have five new assistants getting ready to join the rest of the coaching team in September. They are Liam Moran, Karolina Darska, Eimear Hughes, Peter Thornton and Padraig Dolan.
