Plenty of action on tennis courts

Mid term junior tournamentLast week, whilst the juniors enjoyed a break from their school classes, there was plenty of action down on the tennis courts last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.With temperatures more suited to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver than outdoor tennis in Mullingar, almost fifty youngsters took part in a mid-term tennis tournament expertly organised by Coach, Derek Stenson ably assisted by Dermot Caffrey. Well done to all for competing and generating lots of very beneficial tournament experience, which hopefully will help them in the future events.Normal coaching sessions resume next week with no change in the times for the various groups.ResultsUnder 8s: Winner; Michael Conlon, Runner Up; Rebecca Ruane. There were notable performances from Emma O'Rourke (Under 18s), Simon Carr, Ciaran Nolan, Niamh Nolan and Ashling Rooney who all just missed out narrowly on progressing to the latter stages.
