New short film shot in Mullingar
A new short film called "Out of Tune", shot on location in Mullingar and Offaly, features Mullingar based Damian Farrell and the Westmeath Examiner"s very own Olga Aughey.Written and directed by Offaly born Paddy Slattery, this low budget independent project, which will be premiered in the Tullamore Court Hotel on March 6, also features Mullingar band, The Aftermath."Out of Tune" is a 25 minute short film set in a restless suburban town, and tells the story of a young struggling musician named Steve (Damian Farrell), who is down on his luck after being rejected by judges (Olga Aughey and Terry Fahy from FM 104"s Strawberry Alarm Clock) on the Irish version of "X-Factor".He decides to quit chasing his dreams, but finds it"s not that simple to just walk away from music, which is his life.Damian, who is a singer/songwriter himself, says he could easily identify with his character:'Any musician who has grown up trying to make any headway in the music business, has had to face disappointment,' he said.'I mean it"s a dirty, dirty business. I expect musicians to relate to this, but I think anyone who has faced upsets and disappointments in their life can relate to this.'As well as in Tullamore, shooting took place in The Stables, Mullingar, so you are likely to spot some local faces from the town. Writer and director of "Out of Tune", Paddy Slattery said The Stables plays a prominent role in the film:'We wanted to have it filmed in The Stables because it is one of the most beautiful and intimate settings that continues to showcase original talent in the midlands,' he said.'It is the real deal and the setting was perfect for the image we wanted to achieve.'"Out of Tune" will premiere on March 6 and will be submitted to festivals and TV networks respectively.
