Circle K have announced Killucan GAA Club as the grand prize winners of its 2018 Cash for Clubs initiative, and a €10,000 cash award.
Being at the heart of communities across the country, Circle K recognises the vital role that clubs play in providing opportunities for people of every age to learn new skills, socialise and be active.
Given the challenges clubs across Ireland face when it comes to fundraising, Circle K Cash for Clubs has been designed to give clubs the opportunity to generate funds by harnessing the support of their members and community.
After signing up to Cash for Clubs, members collected tokens by fuelling up at Circle K.
This year, Killucan GAA Club was randomly drawn as the lucky winner of a €10,000 cash prize.
In 2018, more than 3,000 clubs registered for Cash for Clubs.
Since its launch in 2015, the initiative has invested some €400,000 in clubs nationwide.
James Farrell, Killucan GAA Club, said: “We are delighted to have won this year’s Cash for Clubs grand prize!
“The €10,000 will enable us to invest in new equipment and enhance our facilities through the construction of a new set of pitch side dugouts.
“We are grateful to Circle K Ireland for running such a worthwhile annual initiative, which contributes so significantly to clubs across the country.”
Sinead Moriarty, PR and Communications Manager at Circle K Ireland, added: “We would like to congratulate all our winners, including Killucan GAA Club, a deserving recipient of this year’s €10,000 grand prize.
“With 420 stations and a forecourt in every county nationwide, Circle K plays a fundamental role in Irish communities, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to support clubs with their fundraising efforts.
“We would like to extend our congratulations to Killucan GAA Club and hope that the prize money will help them to make a difference to their community in the coming years.”
