Westmeath best off in the midlands

Westmeath people have the highest disposable income in the midlands.

That's according to figures from the Central Statistics Office, which revealed that in 2016 that Westmeath people had an average disposable income of €18,430. Offaly (€17,039) had the lowest, followed by Longford (€17,542) and Laois (€17,684).

Dublin (€24,431) had the highest disposable income in the country, and the Mid West region (€20,306) had the second highest. Dublin is the only region with a average disposable income higher than the state of average of €20,638.

The Border region with €17,370 had the lowest average, 16% below the state average. The Midland region with €17,717 was the second lowest in 2016, 14% below state average.
