Summer Festival fun at Kilbeggan this Saturday

When you read the words ‘Summer Festival’, your first instinct is to think of music, parades, dressing up, sport... and of course you would be right – because that’s exactly what you will get next Saturday August 11 starting at 5.20pm on Kilbeggan Racecourse.

The recent Midlands National Race Meeting was an outstanding success with the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins in attendance in the midst of the big race and the Best Dressed Lady Competition.

Paddy Dunican, manager, said: “It was the first time for the President of Ireland to attend Kilbeggan Races and we experienced a big increase in attendance on the evening.”

Our two top trainers were in attendance and in great form for punters, as Willie Mullins won the first two races with Robin De Carlow 4/7 and Dreamtide 2/1.

Gordon Elliott had a treble with the very useful Barra (5/4F) winning the novice chase and debutant Braid Blue (7/4F) won the bumper. He had the winner of the Midlands National with JP McManus’s Timiyan (12/1).
