Central production unit Midland Regional hospital Mullingar win prestigious Q Mark Award for Best hospital central production unit in Ireland for food safety

The central production unit Midland Regional hospital Mullingar has won the National Q Mark title for Best hospital central production unit in Ireland for food safety at The National Q Mark Awards. 

The nomination put the team in the top 6.75% of all audits completed by the Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA) on the island of Ireland and this win means they are at the top of the Q for highest standards of quality and excellence.

The regional hospital Mullingar catering service produces and provides quality meal and snack services to meet the nutritional needs of patients and staff at the hospital and across satellite locations.

Emily King. lead catering officer at the hospital in Mullingar, said: “Winning this prestigious award is rewarding recognition of the commitment of our teams to delivery of exceptional standards in catering for patients staff and communities we serve at Regional Hospital Mullingar and across satellite locations.” 

Speaking at this year’s awards Irene Collins, managing director of EIQA, said: “This award is a fantastic achievement, recognising a committed catering team who deliver the highest standards of Quality and Excellence.”
 
The National Q Mark Awards 2018 were presented by EIQA and officiated by Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD. 

This is a special year for The Q Mark Awards as EIQA celebrate their 50th anniversary and the MC on the night was broadcaster Jonathan Healy. 

Almost 600 people representing 140 organisations attended a ceremony in competition for one of only 27 awards presented.
