Met Éireann's outlook predicts widespread sunshine for Good Friday

Highs of 20 degrees for Easter

Despite the fact that Game of Thrones fever and its famous tagline "winter is coming" has gripped the nation, it appears, for a time at least, that the wintry conditions we've been experiencing of late may finally be at an end.

Met Eireann is predicting highs of 14 - 20 degrees for the Easter weekend, with temperatures averaging about four degrees above normal in some parts of the midlands, west, and inland south!

And while a week's rainfall was experienced over the course of last weeknd, Monday saw the last of it and we will be tending towards more dry conditions, with sunshine increasing throughout the week, averaging six to eight hours a day - that's up 50%!

From Wednesday onwards conditions will be considered positively summer! Daytime temperatures will see highs of 16 - 18 degrees, while here in the midlands, the mercury is expected to rise from 18 - 20 degrees by Good Friday.

Over the long weekend it will remain especially warm with highs each day of between 18 to 21 degrees.

However, by Easter Monday, trends suggest a return to quite cold weather - so enjoy it while you can!
