Thomas Maxwell.

Maxwell pleased with his start to 2019, and looks forward to first attempt at Isle of Man TT

Thomas Maxwell from Multyfarnham is also pleased with his start to the year, and is already thinking about his first trip to the TT.

At Cookstown he finished fourth in the first superbike race, and at Tandragee he was fourth in the grand final.

“It’s a good solid start,” said Thomas, at the launch of the 2019 ‘Race of the South’ in Mullingar on Sunday.

‘We’re heading to the TT, we did the Manx last year and won, and we’re heading to the big one this year on the superbike,” he said.

“I’m in the senior, the first superbike and the superstock race.

“I’m going to stick to the one bike, in the first year it’s enough, financially and on the body – it’s tough going, six laps of the TT.”

Supporting Thomas on the mechanical side are Liam Hogan, Anthony Daly and Ian Cumberford, and his girlfriend Amy Clyne “is a big part of it all – she keeps me pushed on whenever I need it!”

Thomas has no big sponsors, yet, but is hopeful that after his strong start to 2019, there might be some interest, particularly as the Cookstown abd Tandragee races are being televised on the BBC.

While he has no headline sponsors, he had received a lot of support from a lot of people, and extended his thanks to all of them.
