Ahead of the first day of Heritage Week 2019, tomorrow, Saturday August 17, the Westmeath heritage office, Melanie McQuade, says: “It’s great to see an increase in the number of events for Heritage Week in Westmeath this year – there are more than 70 events scheduled across the county and many of them are free of charge.

“The theme this year is rather clever ‘Pastimes Past times’ and it covers so many aspects of our heritage.

“There’s a huge range of events lined up – there really is something for everyone. But be warned some events need to be booked in advance!

“Check out the County Guide available in Branch Libraries or at https://tinyurl.com/WHHeritageWeek and the most-up-to-date listing can be found on https://www.heritageweek.ie.”
