CoderDojo offering free programming for beginners

Mullingar is one of those fortunate towns in which Coder Dojo operates – meaning kids get the chance to learn coding from professionals, and all for free.

Starting on Saturday September 14 at 11am in Mullingar Charity Variety Group’s Studios in Forest Park, Mullingar, there is to be a free course run over eight Saturdays for 7 to 17 year olds.

Under 12’s intending to participate must be accompanied by an adult.

All that intending participants have to do is just come along on Saturday, September 14 to register. Bring a laptop if you have one. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, the organisers can supply a PC.

CoderDojo Mullingar is part of the global reaching CoderDojo clubs (www.coderdojo.com) who provide free, open and local programming clubs for young people (7 to 17 years).

Want to build computer games, mobile phone games, websites, Internet of Things (IoT) things, robots and drones? Come along and join them in Forest Park, Mullingar.

Also welcome are people with programming experience interested in going along and helping like minded young people doing interesting things.

Are you over 18 and would like to help CoderDojo to help them with computer technology? Why not join as a Mentor? You don’t need to know anything about computers, you can learn as you go along.

CoderDojo is a voluntary run club and it provides volunteers with free garda vetting and child protection training. See www.coderdojomullingar.com and Facebook. Contact 085 7304195 with any queries.
