Minotaurs prepare for the new season

In the United States, the National Football League’s showpiece event, the Superbowl, is taking place this Sunday February 2 in Miami, Florida.

Over 150 million people worldwide are expected to watch who will be crowned the champions of American football. This final clash pits the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers.

While in the US American football draws to a close, the Westmeath Minotaurs American Football Club is busy preparing for the start of the 2020 season. Westmeath are coming off a season where they lost by just a single point in the final and hopes are high for another title challenge.

The quest to return to the championship begins on March 15 at 2pm at Mullingar Rugby Club. The Minotaurs host the Belfast Knights, and it’s a great chance for those interested in the sport to experience a game up close and personal.

The club is also busy fundraising and recruiting. If you’ve been watching the NFL Playoffs and think it may be the sport for you, head to Facebook and drop the club a message.

Indeed, the club is hosting a Superbowl party in the Annebrook House Hotel, Mullingar on the night, so pop down for some food and drinks and get to know some of the players and coaches involved. Feel free to ask questions; club members love talking about American football.

To keep up to date with the club and all the events coming up over the coming months by following the Westmeath Minotaurs on Facebook and Instagram or visit the club’s website: www.westmeathminotaursamericanfootball.com.
