Credit union launches round of national talent competition

The CU Factor is a national Credit Union talent competition and Mullingar Credit Union is holding a round this year. The CU Factor is open to students between the ages of 12 and 19 years who can sing, dance, play music, or comedy act.

The Youth Affairs Committee of Mullingar Credit Union say they are delighted to be involved in organising the local stage of the CU Factor as there is a lot of recognised talent in the area.

Speaking at the launch, Margaret Egan, chairperson of the Youth Affairs Committee, said: “The competition is designed to showcase the talents of the youth in Mullingar and its hinterland. We have some very talented musicians, singers and dancers in our area and CU Factor gives those individuals the opportunity to show their talent on the stage.

“I would encourage the youth of our area to get involved this year.”

Margaret announced that Conor Quinn, a former finalist in the voice of Ireland, is one of the judges, along with the talented Angela Lynch, musical director of Mullingar Arts Centre. There will be another surprise judge on the night.

The local round will take place in Mullingar Arts Centre on Saturday September 27 at 7.30pm. There will be a first prize of €300, a second prize of €200 and by third prize of €100.

To enter the competition, pick up an application form in Mullingar Credit Union, visit Facebook or mullingarcu.ie, or email the office on info@mullingarcu.ie. The closing date for entries to the local stage of CU Factor is September 13.

The top two acts from the local stage will then go forward to a regional Credit Union final in Ballinasloe, on Saturday October 18. A CU Factor national final will take place on Saturday November 1 in Drogheda.
