On 17th of May the Community Association are holding their annual fundraising auction, a fundraising event for the upkeep and improvement of the facilities.Local families are being asked to help out by gathering saleable goods for auction, such as farm machinery, gardening equipment, plants, household goods, etc all to be in good condition.Electrical items cannot be accepted.Support from all of the Clubs and individuals that use the facilities in the Community Centre is being sought to bring along items for the auction and to turnout on the day and support this event.The Community Centre will be open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and lots won"t be accepted on the Sunday morning as numbering of lots and arrangement of items will be taking place on Saturday night. If anyone would like items collected please contact Helen McCormack on 0872852105, Gerry Johnson on 0876487785 or any Committee member.On the day the Association will be selling Bidding Numbers and no item can be bought during auction without these.CardsThe following are the card results from the game held on Monday the 27th of April where raffle winners were €15 Mick Gleeson, €10 Johnny Ward, €10 Mick Gleeson. The winners on 10 games were Michael Lennon and Mick Gleeson, Marie Moran and Joe Malone and each couple received €30.The table prize winners were Carmel Looram and Bernadette McCormack, Simon Boland and John Galvin, Tommy Keeffe and Sr Immaculata and each couple received €10. On the night a vote of sympathy was extended to Anne Sheerin following the death of her sister, Sr Patrick Deegan.The following are the results from the game held on Monday the 3rd of May last where raffle winners were: €15, Eilish McDonnell, €10, Marie Moran, €10, John McDonnell. The table prize winners were John Galvin and Simon Boland, John McDonnell and Michael Lennon, Marie Moran and Bernadette McCormack and each couple received €10.St Joseph"s GAAOn Saturday last the 9th of May the local St Joseph"s Club celebrated the 125th anniversary of the GAA in style with great interest and support on the day. At 3pm the day was kicked off with a welcome from club chairperson Stephen Keegan before matches from Under 6 & 8s, Under 11s and Under 14s and a novelty match for the Over 14s mixed with all styles of players from the wellies to the studded boots. All who competed received medals.There was an array of memorabilia displayed in the Community Centre from the history of the Club and all of the history that has been made since its commencement. There was an array of photos from underage, juniors, Scór, Streamstown Handball, and ladies" football all of which brought smiles to faces. In the afternoon there was entertainment with the present Scór dancers, previous winning dancers, the ICA ladies, singing from the Ballad Group and Solo Singing from Aisling McGuinness.There was interest in the Tug of War with teams competing against each other. There was a barbecue going throughout the day and the children played in the bouncing castles. There were generations inter mingling as they collated information and memories. Overall it was a great day and great support and hands on to help out and make it a day for adding to our history and to the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the GAA.Clean Up DayAs part of Clean up Week the Streamstown Tidy Village has organized a Voluntary Clean Up evening on Wednesday the 13th of May. All interested in taking part are invited to meet at the Community Centre at 7pm and will be allocated a road. All are welcome to come along. It"s amazing the amount of items still been thrown from the car windows onto the roadside most of which blows into the grass verges and ditches and this is what is needed to be gathered up before the judging season commences, so the more the merrier.DancingThe Set Dancing Classes have ended for the summer season. Many thanks to Sean Berry for his patience while teaching the steps and hoping to return in the autumn.Keep Fit ClassesThe keep fit classes have ended for this term and hope to return following the summer break.CongratulationsCongratulations and every good wish is extended to Declan and Claire Kealy, Cloncroft, Horseleap on the birth of their son, a brother for Ciara. Congratulations to all of the family and to Mrs. Margaret Kealy, Dunard, Horseleap on her grandson.First Holy CommunionOn Sunday morning last in the glorious sunshine the 4 boys and 4 girls from Horseleap and Streamstown National Schools, together with their parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunties, uncles, classmates and extended family members were all present to make their First Holy Communion Day a memorable one for all. Fr Tony Gavin, CC Rosemount welcomed each and everyone for their 'Special Day'. All of the children participated in the readings, pPrayers of the faithful, offertory procession and in the ceremony along with their teachers Nuala McDermott and Colette Robbins. Congratulations to Caitlin Gannon, Megan Cochrane, Orla Robbins, Rebecca Flynn, Brian Rabbitte, Eoin McCormack, Eunan McDonnell and Michael John Digan who received their First Holy Communion and hoping you all had an enjoyable and memorable day.
