The massive industrial site in Ballivor which was formerly occupied by NEC Semiconductors Manufacturing, has been put up for sale.NEC closed up in 2006, but at one time, employed over 600 workers, and the site brought to market this week by Auctioneers & Valuers, PJ Broderick & Co comprises a state-of-the-art 12,500 square metre (135,000 square foot) industrial facility built by Bennett’s of Mullingar; car parking for 500 vehicles, and green areas to the front and side, along with surplus lands at the rear with additional road access for possible future expansion.Entry to the site is via a security centre and automated gates.Plant has been extremely well maintainedAccording to the auctioneers, the plant has been extremely well maintained since its closure a number of years ago and all infrastructure including air compressors, air handling systems and boiler systems as well as on-site high speed internet and PC networks is still in place.Furthermore, the plant is connected to the town’s water and sewerage and has a borehole on site. There is also CCTV throughout the site.The 18.8 acre property may be sold as one or two lots with Lot 1 comprising the buildings, car park, green area and Lot 2 circa 5 acres of land with an entrance from the Kinnegad Road.
