Seven appear in court on feud-related charges

At last Thursday's sitting of Mullingar District Court, members of two Mullingar families received bail on condition that they refrain from feuding.Inspector Kieran Keyes requested that cases against six male members of the Joyce and Myers families be adjourned until October, to allow Gardaí to carry out further investigations into feud-related incidents in Mullingar on the weekend of July 17/18.Appearing before Judge Eamon O'Brien were John Joyce (43) of 13 Fairgreen, Mullingar; Patrick Joyce (29) of 157 Raithín, Ashe Road, Mullingar; Johnny Myers (44) of 1 Grange Crescent; John Myers (22) of 1 Grange Crescent; and Edward Myers (46) of 48 Grange Crescent, all of whom were charged under the Public Order Act by prosecuting garda, Gareth O'Brien with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour.A sixth man, Patrick Myers (26) of 50 Farran, Ashe Road, Mullingar, is charged with criminally damaging a house, namely that of Kathleen McDonagh at 22 Grange Meadows.A woman, Margaret Joyce (45) of 227 Greenpark Meadows, Mullingar, was charged with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Ardleigh Crescent on July 17, and also with possessing a can of pepper spray contrary to the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act.Judge O'Brien adjourned all cases until October 7.
