Mullingar"s Got Talent

On Friday December 19 the 1428 Active Retirement Club are holding a talent competition called "Mullingar"s Got Talent" in the Greville Arms Hotel. The competition has been divided into three categories; for kids (5-12 year olds), teens (13-18 year olds) and adults (18+).Anyone who wishes to take part can do so by contacting the 1428 Club and filling out an entry from which must be returned to the club by Monday December 15.There are prizes for each category which local businesses in Mullingar have kindly donated to us.The Committee, management and staff of the 1428 Club are very grateful for the support and we would like to give a special thanks to "Temple Country Retreat & Spa" for there very generous voucher worth €100 which is being offered as first prize for the adult category. The competition is being held as a fundraiser in aid of the club"s building fund. At present the club operates on rented premises at 46 Dominick Street providing go for life classes, art classes, crochet classes, computer courses, coffee mornings, day trips and annual trips for our 400 members. However, because of the steep stairs and lack of space and facilities we are limited as to what we offer and not all of our members can avail of our services. Our ongoing fundraising has meant that we are almost in a position to start the building of a new purpose built centre in Ashe Road beside the new Educate Together School, which will be ground floor, provide more space for classes and social events, will be wheelchair accessible and offer more facilities. The site for the new building was kindly given to the club by the Westmeath County Council. The fundraising is ongoing and we appreciate the help and support of the businesses and the public of Mullingar.
