Olympic athlete leading Saplings team

Saplings Midlands are calling on the public to join Olympian Pauline Curley who leads the Saplings mini marathon team for her third successive year in order to raise much needed funds for children with autism. With long evenings and hopefully nice Summer weather approaching fast, the time has come to build another Saplings mini marathon team.On Bank Holiday Monday, June 1, another 40,000 ladies will take to the streets of the capital to take part in the Flora womens mini marathon and raise a lot of money for charities nationwide.Saplings are no exception to that, and following their last few successful years, the group once again embark on building another fine team for this event. In total since 2005 this event has raised almost €170,000 for Saplings Midlands, which has helped all the children attending the school improve their ability to communicate, socialise and in some cases integrate into main stream school.Pauline Curley has generously offered to lead the Saplings team again this year. Pauline, from Tullamore, who won the mini-marathon in 2006, has visited the school in Mullingar and is very impressed with what she saw.To join the team, all you need to do is register for the mini marathon either via filling in the form in The Evening Herald on a Thursday or Saturday, or by logging on to www.womensminimarathon.ie, then simply contact our school from 9:30am - 3pm at 044 9384853 and giving your details. You can also ring Niall Murphy on mobile at 087 2305566 or e-mail niall.murphy@lagan-group.com .From that point everything will be provided, which will include t-shirt, sponsorship cards, transport and a meal afterwards, and any other information that you may require. All support will be greatly appreciated.
