Moate to host 169th annual show

Moate's 169th annual show takes place on Saturday the 22nd of August in its new venue beside Browne's filling station on the old Dublin Road Moate. This new location will allow easy access for all traffic to the show, as they will not have to go through the town of Moate. This year there is a great interest in the show and there are a large number of entries in many of the classes including poultry, sheep, cattle, horses and arts and crafts. The highlights are three all Ireland Finals - the Filly Foal final sponsored by A. Browne Oil, Texaco Station, Moate; the Chocolate Cook of the year Final sponsored by Moate Show; and The All Ireland Cocker Spaniel Championship Sponsored by McGrath Dog food.Moate will be hosting 10 Qualifiers for all Ireland finals to be held at other shows throughout the Country. In show jumping the highlight should be the High Wall (Puissance) winner takes all sponsored by Mr Liam Porter MVB, MRCVS and Mr Miley Dunning. There is also a dog show which always draws a large audience; and in addition to the many competition classes there are many more enticements including many novelty animals and attractions for children. As the show is further from the town than our previous location there will be a free shuttle bus organised by the show running from the town to the show every half an hour starting at 12 midday and running until 6 p.m. This bus will be stopping at the "Gap House", "The Grand Hotel", and "Bart O'Connor's Shop" and will then continue to the new show grounds. This service will also shuttle passengers back into the town every half an hour between 12 Midday and 6 p.m. Entries can still be returned to secretary Angela Jordan Windmill Road, Moate. Contact details by email joseph1@esatclear.ie or by phone 09064 81318. The show would like to thank all its sponsors for their continued support especially in the difficult times we are now encountering, without this sponsorship it would not be possible for the show to take place.
